PRESENTS:

Pillar of Fire and Other Plays © 1975, renewed 2004 by Ray Bradbury
The Spark, an umbrella project of La Fenice, was organized summer of 2024 to provide hands-on production, design and performance training for Austin area teens. These young artists selected their first production together and learned the ropes of budgeting, negotiating artist, venue and royalty agreements, and preproduction.
Throughout the rest of the year, they participated in Conservatory-level theatre, mask and movement training as well as mentorship from award winning designers and producers.
All of this work culminates in Pillar of Fire - selected, produced, designed and performed by teens.
You can donate directly and securely to this project here.

Many thanks to our additional build team: Brent Jenkins, Adam Rodriguez, Daniel Hernandez, and Alex Cogburn.
We are eternally grateful for the support of Bonnie Cullum, and the nurturing, flourishing art space she has created.
* Adult Mentors are available for our teen designers to bounce ideas off of, to provide expertise in making a challenging concept possible, and for safety purposes during tech.
La Fenice and The Spark are deeply grateful for their commitment to empowering the next generation of theatre artists.
** La Fenice Company Members
In loving memory of Eli Clark.
This production is performed on land stolen from the Caddo, Coahuiltecan, Lipan Apache, Karankawa, Tonkawa and Witchita people. Later, Austin's black communities were reduced to living on six surrounding blocks, which they developed into a thriving, vibrant community that we are gentrifying today.
Acknowledging this fact doesn't undo the generational harm done to our neighbors.
A portion of tonight's ticket sales will go to support the work of local black and indigenous artists and cultural preservationists.
